Don’t Skip Breakfast

How many times have you heard, “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day?” Yet, many of us often skip out on breakfast because we don’t have the time to eat or we aren’t hungry in the morning.

Whatever the reasoning, it is still not a good enough one to skip out on a meal which can help reduce the risk of obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes. In a recent study reported in the American Heart Association’s journal Circulation, men who reported that they regularly skipped breakfast had a higher risk of a heart attack or fatal coronary heart disease.

  • Slice of whole-grain toast with peanut butter and sliced banana
  • Oatmeal with a scoop of protein powder mixed in and topped with fruit
  • Scrambled eggs with ground turkey and vegetables
  • Greek yogurt topped with granola and fruit
  • Plan out what you will have the night before, wake up a few minutes earlier, and start your day off with a healthy breakfast — you will be glad you did and so will your heart!
