Take me out to the ball game…

Opening Day has come and gone and after the great season the Cleveland Indians had last year many of you will be visiting the corner of Carnegie and Ontario.  Progressive Field offers a ton of great food options from all over the Cleveland area. One of the toughest things is to find healthy choices that keep you on track.

Here are some tips that will help:

Plan ahead

One of the best things you can do is eat a meal before you go to game.  The first option would be eating a meal that you have prepared yourself.  If that doesn’t work downtown Cleveland offers a variety of excellent restaurants within walking distance of the stadium that will allow you to make healthier choices.  Plus this also allows you to get extra steps in before the first pitch.

Bring your own

Many people don’t realize or have forgotten that you are still able to bring snacks into Progressive Field.  Fans can bring in a 20oz bottle of water that you can refill at a water fountain to avoid the sugary sodas and adult beverages.  Also single serve juice boxes and food items can be brought in as well.  Make sure to check the venue website for more information.

Moderation is the Key

It’s not always possible to do the two tips above.  If you find yourself hungry at the game don’t feel bad for having to give in.  Find an option that you like and share it with a friend or choose the can of beer instead of the large draft.

These tips just do not just apply to Indians games.  The warmer weather means trips to amusement parks and concert venues and they all allow certain things to be brought in. Check with their rules and regulations so you can plan ahead and stay healthy.
